Home Depot's "Closet Fee"

Tarr and I have drug off to work on another project. "How hard can it be?" fixing up this little jewel.

We bought it sort of on impulse because we have always really liked it. For decades.

Anyway, like any good houseblogger, we have been pulling out rotten wood, sneaking stuff to other people's dumpsters, dealing with tardy contractors, losing great wads of money and, in Tarr's case, chasing the heck out of feral cats.

We discovered today that if a person asks the Home Depot dude why it costs a total of $791 to install a bottom-of-the-line $289 water heater, he will tell you that there is a "closet fee." In other words, if you have your water heater out in the living room, that is a good thing and no extra charge. But if you have it tucked away out of sight in a closet, it is $40 more.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. just grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The good news is that I have lots of people lined up to rent it.
